I first walked into the Living Room on the 31st August 2023 as a broken man. My addiction had taken over my life and robbed me of my relationships, my sense of self and my will to live. Addiction had left me homeless, it left me terrified, it left me isolated and alone.

And then I went to the Living Room. At TLR, I finally had a place, free of judgement or questions or fear where I could begin to process the trauma that led to addiction. I could begin to work through the things that had bought me so much shame and guilt and finally forgive myself.

It took a long time, and it took a long time for me to be able to love myself again but at TLR, the clients have an unofficial motto - "we love you until you can love yourself". In that room, I was held, supported and loved through my early recovery and because of that, my life is so wonderful. I have a job, a flat to call my own, I volunteer helping other LGBTQ+ addicts, but most importantly, I have peace in my life for the first time.

The Living Room is a miracle worker. But it needs help. By donating, no matter the amount, you are helping to ensure that at TLR, we can continue to save lives and change lives, not just of those living with addiction, but their loved ones too.

Please give what you can and help us to love more people until they can love themselves. Will Roney
