Application Form Relief Manager 14 The Glebe, Stevenage, SG2 0DJ We are recruiting for a Relief Manager for our Charity Shop. This role is to provide ad-hoc cover for shop managers for annual leave, sickness or training, as required. The aim of the relief manager role is to maximise sales and ensure all staff and volunteers (collectively described as staff) provide a high level of customer experience. In addition, you will ensure compliance, health and safety and reporting processes are completed. The role involves: Day to day management of all aspects of the store ensuring that it is trading effectively, that it is adequately staffed, promotions are well advertised and that customers’ needs are met. Deal with any customer enquiries and complaints as appropriate. Day to day management of volunteers including; motivation, attendance and welfare. Ensure cash and payment systems in-store are managed in accordance with the shops procedures and policies at all times. Ensure staff/volunteers and customer safety is provided the uppermost priority. Ensure staff/volunteers are processing donations, storage of donations, display of donations, sales of donations and destruction of donations as per shop guidelines. Ensure that at all times you take care of your health and safety and that of others by complying with health and safety obligations, particularly by reporting promptly any defects, risks or potential hazards. This is a voluntary position to support our Community Interest Company; registered as Revival (The Living Room) CIC No. 06611733, limited by guarantee. Responsibilities include: serving the community purpose of the CIC, attending and participating in Board Meetings approximately four times per year plus an Annual General Meeting and any relevant events (in person or virtually), participation in any sub-committees you choose, acting as the accountable mechanism for Revival CIC - responsible to The Living Room CIO and other funders, contribution to the strategic direction of the organisation, making decisions and committing to Diversity, Equality, Equity and Inclusion. Find out more Charity Shop Retail Volunteer 14 The Glebe, Stevenage, SG2 0DJ 4 hours minimum up to 30 hours per week Our charity shop raises much needed funds to support our service to be free to people that need it. We need people to volunteer a few hours each week or more to help us to do that and make a difference in the community. Our volunteers are the public face of our charity to people in the local community and they provide a welcoming and attractive environment. Our shop sells wonderful quality items at very reasonable prices and a fast change-around. Volunteers will be involved in a range of duties under the guidance of our shop managers and senior shop manager e.g. assisting customers with queries and purchases, sorting and preparing stock ready for sale or recycling, tidying and cleaning and using the till. To be a volunteer, you don’t need any qualifications although if you have specific skills that might be useful, do make those known on your application. What we do need is reliability, a commitment to help regularly, to be friendly and want to work as part of a really inclusive team. You will need to be reasonably fit, but we will take into consideration any physical needs you may have. We will accept applications from anyone 16 and older and we support the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. We will provide you with an induction, training and support and you will be fully insured. We will give you a reference if you are looking to volunteer for a while until you have experience to look for paid employment – helpful if you want to improve your confidence when re-entering the job market.
